Nigeria upto now is the top scammed country worldwide not to mention that they are also the top scammers in the world, yes basically people in Nigeria survive by scamming others. The 2018 statistics of Federal Trade commission dealt with 1.4 million fraud cases which resulted in $1.48 million losses, that's not a good number is it well it happens. Okay first let's define Scammers |Scam|a scammer is someone who defraud/decieve another person mostly by promising job opportunities, free gifts, coupons, giveaways, cash prices and so forth, often scammers ask for your personal information as with todays wolrd many are smart and will never send money to unknown people so scammers developed a new strategy where by they ask for your personal information instead and most people careless abaout such information well trust me it's better being scammed sending money then giving your personal information as it is used in many expensive ways like accessing and draining your bank account which allows them to take your savings if you won't notify your bank easily they also can open a new bank account using your information and take loans or credit which you'll have to pay for in return, they also use your personal information to gain your government online services like they can purchase expensive online goods which in return you need to pay for they can do so many things with your personal information, if you are scammed or even suspect a scam please report at FTC ReportFraud.ftc.gov for assistance immediately, contact your bank/credit card issuer and freeze your credit, most scammers only look forward in stealing money so if you do this earlier then they will get nothing as upto now no scammers have shown up to a victim's house even though it's easier for them to find your house with the address from your personal information, they just never risked their identity.
Now out of this your cell number and phone ID is the most important asset here, if a scammer gets access to your cellphone number they can use this by tricking caller ID systems and get into your financial institutions that use your phone number to identify you they then convince your financial issuer to ditch your number and add which they wish thus leaving you out of your financial control resulting in you losing money, the famous scam in the United States is the one scammers use your cellphone number and track your contacts numbers they either then ask your contacts for money pretending to be you or they can scam them too, i know this whole discussion got you worried but fear not as this all can be prevented with the unique codes your phone has instore, with this code you can know if you are being scammed, forward your calls when unavailable, unlock phone features and other amazing things such as apps and more in settings, these codes are categorized in two sections, Unstructured Supplementary Services Data [USSD] and Man Machine Interface [MMI] codes, all this codes are unique in their own ways which we'll look at now just to know, you should be careful with this codes as some may delete your data and others destroy your device.
A) USSD codes
This are communication protocol used by GSM cellular telephones to communicate with the mobile network operator's computers this codes are also known as Quick or Features codes, this codes are used to unlock secret features/actions in your smartphone, here is how it works when you dial one of the codes you'll see the "please wait" or USSD code running or something similar don't press else where just wait patiently as this can affect the functionality of your phone, down are the seven USSD codes you all should know.
1) *#62#
This unique code will help you know if your calls, fax, voice, data, texts and so on have been forwarded out of your notice, help know any fraud activities.
2) ##002#
This code will help you deactivate all forwarding activities, some scammers may forward your texts, calls to their number which is famously known as conditional forwarding just by having your cell number so if you suspect any fraud dial this and deactivate all forwarding as there's this possibility.
3) *#21#
This will help you know if a message or call have been diverted or not, smart user right?.
4) #662#
Enter #662# to turn on scam block, comfirm if scam block is on by dialing #787# and turn it off with #632# code, you can hide your caller ID info from specific users by entering *67 then the number you want to hide your caller ID info.
5) *43# and #43#
This feature works for call waiting, *43# will help you enable this feature whereas #43# will do the opposite incase you dialed *43# by mistake.
6) *#*#4636#*#*
If you want to check your phone statistics such as battery, device information, and so many other phone information then this is the right code for you.
7) *#*#7780#*#*
If you want to reset your device to the manufacturers original setting the this code is what you need, just dial it and it will reset your device automatically.
(BONUS)
*#06# Use this to see your IMEI number- the number that identifies your device, can also be used to blacklist a lost or stolen phone so it wont be reused.
*#*#1472365#*#* Check your GPS functionality using this code.
*#1234# Check you firmware version with this code.
*2767*3855# Use this in emergency to reinstall firmwave, it's delicated as it delete the device firmwave then you will have to reinstall everything again, using the same code.
B) MMI codes
This codes are dialed on your phone to communicate with the SIM card they are specially for sim cards and may not work without a sim card, they are entered like telephone numbers with the purpose of obtaining information can also be used to enable and disable certain actions, this codes are automatic and bring a serial of information when dialed, all codes mostly in a Samsung device with * or # fall into MMI codes although they look alike they are completely different in terms of actions and their other different functions, next we'll look at the four MMI codes examples i know off.
1) *#*#4636#*#*
This code will help you see information abaut who accessed your app as dialing it will bring information of the phone, Wi-Fi , battery and usage statistics.
2) *#06#
Dial this if you want to see the serial number and model, it works on a GSM phone best or only.
3) *139# or *131#
This code only work with an mtc SIM card, if you want to see your simcard balance then dial it and information of your SIM balance will come up also information such as when the SIM card will expire will come up in here.
4) *682#
Only works on an mtc SIM card, if you want to borrow SIM card balance, buy data bundles, purchase aweh, news gossip sub and so many more with an mtc card then this is the number you have to dial.
There are various of MMI codes on your device here is how to find them first dial *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer then navigate to Phone Information, click on ‘Run Ping Test’ Once the ping test is performed click on ‘Turn Off Radio’ now click on ‘Turn on IMS over SMS’ and Finally, Reboot your phone. Many people have issues with MMI codes either errors or so many other problems now here is how to solve it start of by dialing *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer go to Phone Information then click on ‘Run Ping Test’, Once the ping test is performed click on ‘Turn Off Radio’ then click ‘Turn on IMS over SMS’ and Finally, Reboot your phone and you are done.
